Animal World And Its Uniqueness
The world of animals is a fascinating one. The world is filled with so many unique and fascinating organisms that are essential for this planet's survival, and evolution has only gotten us, humans, this far. Humans have inhabited Earth for not more than 4.2 million years as per research the rise of animals had seen some decline as ancestors of humans (e.g the neanderthal man, homo sapiens) as they hunted for megafauna as mammoths, deer, aurochs, woolly rhinoceros etc. The rise of humans and civilization has seen animals push towards the brink of extinction, while some animals have evolved to live in the robust and urban jungles of today, others have had difficulty evolving in such environments and have had most of their habitat reduced to small spaces as well as introducing invasive species during colonization years which caused the extinction of certain species. The Dodo bird from Mauritius fell victim to the Dutch Sailors in 1662, hunting it down for meat and the invasive species being bought like dogs, cats and rats which fed on the young and eggs of the dodo while its habitat was destroyed.
This is just one example of how the extinction of various creatures was orchestrated by humans and this might not be the last. Since 1900 almost 500 species of animals have gone extinct but we’re trying to bring some of the species back to life and help in restructuring the near-extinct ones with laws that protect these fascinating organisms but it's a long way to go. All sorts of factors causing all sorts of problems like climate change, pollution to name a few.
Marine life is badly affected due to climate change and pollution with materials like plastic and fishnets thrown in the ocean getting attached to turtles and other fish or fish getting killed after they’re unable to get free from fishnets stuck on them or the other way around you can guess who’s responsible for this.
How to solve this issue ?
The only way in which we’ll be able to solve this is by recycling plastic and other recyclable waste and by not disposing of them in the open ocean as even a small piece of plastic can cause a lifetime of problems to marine, terrestrial and avian. Maintaining low carbon emissions and aforestation are major ways in helping towards a better environmental prowess and for a better world
